A small shochu distillery founded in 1908, located at the southernmost tip of Japan's mainland.
The AKAYANE story began in 2006 as a group of Japanese distillers with the aim of opening new distilling doors and expanding the range of the Japanese distilled spirit shochu.
By fusing Japanese distilling techniques honed over more than over 110 years with European distilling equipment and techniques and philosophies, AKAYANE has been exploring the possibilities of "distillation".
Our Products "Gin Heart" Series features the four seasons of Japan (spring, summer, autumn and winter), using seasonal botanicals as ingredients.
-HARU (spring) has a pleasant pine resin-like aroma of juniper berries and a subtle salty taste from kelp with matcha, cherry blossom and yuzu.
-NATSU (summer) has a cool aroma of shiso leaves, cucumber and green plums, and a fine, dark green tea.
-AKi (autumn) has a calm and soothing aroma reminiscent of forest mushrooms. The sweet flavours of chestnut and vanilla, with subtle hints of kabosu and juniper berries.
-Snow (winter) is full of the aroma of citrus fruits such as Sakurajima tangerine, tangerine, kumquat and yuzu, which are native with the mild climate of this region.
