The company was registered in the United Kingdom in 2023 with the vision of creating a distinctive spirit inspired by an ancient South Indian recipe. A successful proof of concept was developed in collaboration with Wharf Distillery, which manages the contract distillation.

In February 2024, the brand launched its first product under the name OTTAKOMBANN, meaning “Lone Tusker” in Malayalam, a South Indian language. The portfolio currently comprises four unaged spirit variants under the OTTAKOMBANN brand, which are available in the UK, UAE, and Malta
