Produced in Italy by Gin CandeGIN srls, the brand openly embraces an unconventional identity. According to the producer, CandeGIN is an irreverent brand that combines premium quality with an unconventional spirit. Its visual identity draws inspiration from household cleaning products, a deliberate choice that challenges expectations while maintaining what the company describes as a refined and distinctive character.
That contrast between disruption and craftsmanship sits at the centre of the brand's positioning.
Rather than competing through traditional luxury symbolism, CandeGIN presents itself through a design language that immediately attracts attention and invites curiosity. Yet behind the unconventional packaging is a London Dry Gin produced with a clear focus on botanical composition and balance.
The flagship expression, CandeGIN Gentle, is a London Dry Gin distilled in Italy and crafted using a blend of ten botanicals: juniper, prickly pear, apple, yuzu, sage, iris, green tea, coriander, Sichuan pepper, and liquorice. The selection combines classic gin foundations with ingredients that contribute freshness, spice, floral complexity, and aromatic depth.

At its core, the spirit remains recognisably London Dry in style. Juniper provides the backbone expected of the category, while coriander contributes structure and spice. Around this traditional framework, the recipe introduces less conventional elements that expand the gin's flavour profile in distinctive ways.
Yuzu brings bright citrus character. Prickly pear and apple contribute fruit-driven freshness. Sage adds a savoury herbal dimension, while green tea introduces subtle aromatic complexity. Iris lends floral character, Sichuan pepper contributes spice and lift, and liquorice provides depth and texture. Together, these botanicals create a composition that seeks originality without abandoning balance.
The quality of that approach received significant international recognition at the 2026 London Spirits Competition.
CandeGIN Gentle was awarded a Gold Medal with 94 points, placing it among the leading gin entries judged during the competition. In addition to its medal performance, the spirit received the Best Spirit by Package award, recognising the effectiveness and originality of its presentation.

The judges described the gin as aromatic, highlighting juniper, mineral notes, citrus peel, and floral characteristics on the nose. On the palate, they found layers of candied orange, green herbs, and spice, followed by a finish featuring purple flowers, kola nut, and baking spices. The tasting panel noted the spirit's balanced complexity, a notable achievement given the breadth of flavours involved.
What makes CandeGIN particularly interesting from a market perspective is the way its packaging strategy and liquid quality appear to reinforce one another.
In many cases, disruptive packaging can attract initial attention but struggle to establish long-term credibility if the product itself falls short. CandeGIN's competition success suggests that the liquid stands independently of its visual identity. The London Spirits Competition evaluates products through a combination of quality, value, and packaging, making recognition across multiple dimensions especially relevant for brands seeking commercial success.

For retailers, bartenders, and spirits buyers, CandeGIN occupies a distinctive position within the premium gin segment. It offers a recognisable London Dry structure while introducing a botanical profile that extends beyond conventional citrus and spice combinations. At the same time, its visual presentation creates a strong point of differentiation on shelf and behind the bar.
The brand's own description promises a tasting experience that "washes away the ordinary." While marketing language often leans toward exaggeration, the combination of a 94-point Gold Medal, a Best Spirit by Package award, and a carefully constructed botanical recipe suggests that CandeGIN has succeeded in creating something genuinely distinctive.
In a global gin market where differentiation has become increasingly difficult, CandeGIN demonstrates that innovation does not necessarily require abandoning tradition. Instead, it shows how a well-defined London Dry foundation can serve as a platform for originality, creativity, and a fresh interpretation of what a modern premium gin can be.
