“Customer Service, Knowledge & Passion are the most important skills for a bartender,” Says Agostino.

Agostino moved to London in 2009, started as a barback, then had positions at Pullman Hotels & Resorts as a bar supervisor and The Bulgari Hotel & Residences as a senior bartender. He started working as a head bartender at The Arts Club, Mayfair in 2017, and with his years of expertise in the hospitality sector and skill set, he got promoted to assistant bar manager.

Tell us about yourself. 

I moved to London in 2009, started as a barback, and then moved my career up until I became manager at the Arts Club in Mayfair. 

Why did you want to become a Bartender?

I always loved this job since I was little.

What are some of the most important skills for a Bartender?

Costumers Service, Knowledge & Passion. 

What do you look for when buying new products for your business? 

If it fits the place where I work.

What's the best part of your job?

Getting to always interact with guests. 

If you had to pick one spirit brand you love, which one would it be?

Macallan

Please share some tips to increase beverage sales in a Bar.

More training and also more visits to a distillery.

What do you love hearing as a bartender?

That the cocktails we make are amazing.

How can a customer get your attention in a crowded bar?

Just waiting to be served as for sure he will be looked after. 

What is your go-to "surprise me" order?

I always ask which main spirits they love, then craft a cocktail with their spirits preferences. 

Please name 3 bars that you admire and why?

I love Camparino in galleria in Milano, Connaught Bar, and Donovan Bar.
