Three Awards for Finnish Distillery Lignell & Piispanen

Lignell & Piispanen distillery from Finland bagged three awards at the 2018 London Spirits Competition

The history of Lignell & Piispanen dates back to the year of 1852 when Gustav Ranin decided to set up this family business in Kuopio, Finland. The third oldest alcoholic house in Finland, the success of Lignell & Piispanen is based on six generations of excellent craftsmanship, knowledge of the Nordic nature, complete transparency and the respect for principles of sustainable development.

Lignell & Piispanen had three spirits that were awarded with medals at the London Spirits Competition held in March, 2018.

Lignell & Piispanen

Gustav Dill Vodka- A Finnish dill aromatized pearl artesani vodka, the Gustav Dill Vodka was awarded a silver medal at the competition with a score of 86 points. At the nose, one can recognize the dill which is fresh and invigorating but does not overpower the nose. The palate is fresh and balanced and the vodka is made using aroma distillation from Finnish dill. Overall, the Gustav Dill Vodka is slightly spicy, soft and has rich dill. It makes for an excellent pairing with seafood and is suitable for high quality cocktail and drink mixes.

Gustav Blueberry Vodka- A handmade, premium-grade artesani vodka, the Gustav Blueberry Vodka was also a silver medal winner at the London Spirits Competition after it scored 83 points. The main components of this vodka are wheat and Northern blueberries. Gustav Blueberry Vodka has a dry taste that is dominated by blueberries. The alcohol content is 40% and it goes off as an excellent mixer for the Helsinki Bramble cocktail.

Gustav Arctic Vodka- This vodka from the Lignell & Piispanen distillery was awarded a bronze medal at the London Spirits Competition. Gustav Arctic Vodka is made using the traditions started by Gustav Ranin right when the distillery was established. The vodka is a combination of wild wilderness and pure softness. The vodka is dry, warm and soft and at the nose has notes of dry, light wheat.

Ever since the Lignell & Piispanen distillery was founded, their focus has been on the essentials, on uncovering flavours that help the drinkers know about the origin. Authenticity and uniqueness of the product are key selection criterias along with responsible production and quality of taste. Over the years, all the new generations have brought along something new to the distillery while making sure that the core activity of the distillery remains the same. That core activity is to provide the taste of the forest in the products of Lignell & Piispanen distillery. The team strives to create flavours that are reminiscent of the four seasons of the Nordic region.
