The London Spirits Competition that took place on March 8-9, 2018, judged many spirits for three key criteria – quality, value for money and packaging. Here is the list of 10 Best Gin Brands that scored highest at London Spirits Competition.

High Spirits Dry Gin is distilled to the principles of the London Dry style. Clean and balanced, the Dry Gin includes juniper, coriander, orris root, angelica root, cassia and others to make up the bill of botanicals which are all placed in the vapour path to be gently infused throughout distillation to carry some of the more delicate flavours over. High Spirits Dry Gin is non-chill filtered; hence the spirit may take on a pearlescent lustre once diluted. High Spirts Dry Gin notes a rich mouthfeel and a dry botanical profile with an underlying vanilla and slight Sichuan peppery finish.

The Poetic License Northern Dry Gin has 13 botanicals in total, most of which are classic, (Juniper being at the forefront, as well as with coriander seeds, angelica root). Green cardamom is complimented by dried Persian lime, alongside four different types of pepper (one which Cubeb Berries). On the nose – the resinous piney nature of juniper is both clear and omnipresent. To taste, it’s a classically styled gin, with juniper leading throughout, while cardamom and cubeb adding a drying spice.

Sarsaparilla Gin Liqueur from the Poetic License folks in Sunderland. Poetic License have combined sarsaparilla root with Old Tom gin, alongside a touch of aniseed, liquorice and vanilla. The unique flavour of the sarsaparilla root works with light aniseed notes as well as sweet liquorice and vanilla to create aromas and flavours heavily reminiscent of the titular sarsaparilla soft drink. The Old Tom gin brings a gently spicy character, rounding out the whole profile.

Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin is an aromatic take on the premium gin category. This Gin is launched by Quintessential Brands in October 2013. Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin is crafted with a selection of exotic hand-picked botanicals, including spicy Cubeb berries from Indonesia, Black Pepper from India and Coriander from Morocco. Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin has bursts of Citrus balanced with the rich, earthy aromas and a soft spice. It taste, oft camphor, some sweetness and oriental spices create a warm mouth feel that lingers but does not increase in intensity.

On the nose, Green juniper, followed by a burst of herbal spice notes, including cardamom and sage. Then some coriander and finally, fennel.
