Finding your place in the spirits market can be a tough call, especially with new brands popping up all the time - and older brands upping their marketing game. However, thanks to spirits competitions, you can find your place in the market, and also know where you stand currently. It's important for you to get in front of credible buyers, who can appreciate your spirits, and also tell you your current place in the market.

After 3 years of consecutive success, the London Spirits Competition, in its 4th year is set to continue its aim of setting a true benchmark for buyers and consumers looking to buy spirits of the best quality, price, and packaging.

All global spirits competitions have been organized in the same way for years, by spirits being blind-tasted and judged. The London Spirits Competition has broken with tradition and brought a different approach to judging.

Beverage Trade Network, the organizers of the London Spirits Competition asked over a hundred buyers across the globe about how they pick spirits for their portfolios and lists. In the end, it all boiled down to three main aspects - Quality, Value, & Packaging.

Judge at London Spirits Competition

With this, the unique judging process of the London Spirits Competition was birthed. Apart from quality, the London Spirits Competition also judges all the spirits on their packaging and value for money. To be more precise, the London Spirits Competition judges in the way a consumer would, when picking a bottle.

The average customer always looks at the price first. Then they look at the label and pick out the spirits with designs and stories that appeal to them. So these two things come before a producer even gets a chance to show how well their product is.

Putting this into place, the London Spirits Competition judges spirits based on three main criteria:

Quality

We want to celebrate spirits that are both enjoyable and easy to drink. spirits that are well balanced, where their acidity, tannins and alcohol levels all work seamlessly together. That’s the Quality factor.

Value for money

You don't need to be the cheapest Spirits on the shelf to offer the best value for money. Far from it. spirits may have a high price tag, but can still offer great value providing it delivers the right quality and taste for spirits at that price point. The London Spirits Competition will assess each spirit for how much value it is offering its customers.

Package and Design

Up to 65% of consumers will try a new spirit just because it looks good and if you can match that with a price and quality of spirits that offers great value for money, then you are more than halfway home. The London Spirits Competition will reward those brands that show they understand their customers, and the price category they are operating in, and have produced a design and package with the right personality to attract and keep their attention.
