Sacred Spirits Awarded with Two Medals on Home Soil

Sacred Spirits from Highgate, London was awarded with two medals at the 2018 London Spirits Competition

Sacred Spirits distillery was founded by Londoner and distiller Ian Hart in 2008 after he decided that the gin and London connection needed to be shown in a positive light. He wanted to ensure that the onus during the production was on quality. In order to preserve the richness of flavour and aromas of the hand-picked botanicals, Ian decided to use vacuum distillation instead of the traditional pot distillation process.

Sacred Spirits had two spirits that were among the medal winners at the 2018 London Spirits Competition. The two spirits that were awarded were:

Sacred Spirits

English Whisky Liqueur- The English Whisky Liqueur was awarded a silver medal at the London Spirits Competition with a score of 87 points from the judges. It is a combination of fine English Whisky blended with Spanish sweet orange peels, Indonesian cubeb and Vietnamese star anise. This makes the English Whisky Liqueur a classic orange liqueur containing evocative notes of a Vietnamese Spice Market.

Peated English Whisky- This spirit from the Sacred Spirits distillery was awarded a bronze medal at the London Spirits Competition. For the preparation of Peated English Whisky, Sacred Spirits takes English Whisky from bourbon barrels and re-casks them further in London for further maturation and flavour development. The presence of nutty and rich nuances give a truly deep and satisfying single malt to the spirit. The Peated English Whisky has a 48% ABV.

What makes Sacred Spirits unique is that the distilleries used for production are designed by Ian Hart to his exact specification. The setup gives Ian complete control over the small volume/high quality production process. During the production process, the handling of the ingredients is extremely crucial. The organically-sourced botanicals is macerated in English wheat spirit for 4–6 weeks to achieve total extraction. These rich extracts are then distilled separately, which allows experimentation with multiple combinations of flavour before blending to make a Sacred Spirit. Sacred Spirits started off with experimentation initially and since then has gone on to make a variety of spirits that are loved by spirits drinkers.
