At the 2019 London Spirits Competition, where spirits are judged by a panel of experts on three major parameters, namely, Quality, Value, and Packaging, Heaven’s Door Double Barrel Whiskey earned the titles of ‘Spirit of the Year’ , ‘Whiskey of the Year’, ‘Best Spirit by Quality’, ‘Best Spirit by Value’ and ‘Best in Show by Country (USA)’ and also swooped a Gold Medal at the Competition.
Double Barrel Whiskey is a blend of three different whiskeys. This whiskey is handcrafted using a double barrel finishing process that utilizes hand-toasted, new American oak barrels for secondary aging.

With a 100 proof and an ABV of 50%, the Double Barrel Whiskey has an impeccable blend of caramel, oak, citrus, and spice notes, adding complexity to its premium flavour. “Immaculate clarity. The richness of the vanillin and lipids imparted by the barrel are obvious and welcome, in that, the buttery texture underlines the gustatory power” said F. Paul Pacult, Editor of F. Paul Pacult Spirits Journal when asked about the premium spirit.
Heaven’s Door is an award-winning collection of premium, handcrafted American whiskeys in collaboration with the one and only Bob Dylan. “We wanted to create a collection of American whiskeys, that, in their own way tell a story,” said Dylan when speaking about the inspiration behind Heaven’s Door. It’s headed up by CEO Mark Bushala and COO Ryan Perry.

Bushala and Perry are a pair that know whiskey. Ryan Perry spent most of his career developing whiskeys at spirits giant Diego. Mark Bushala, on the other hand, was co-founder and CEO of Angel’s Share Brand, which was sold to Bacardi LTD. The outset of Heaven’s Door was when Bushala discovered Bob Dylan’s trademark application for ‘bootleg whiskey’.
Both Bushala and Perry spent months in brainstorming and trying to reach out to Dylan. When they managed to get Bob on the phone, the pair shared their background and pitched their plan to collaborate on a line of whiskeys with Dylan. With Bob Dylan’s interest in whiskeys and the expertise of Bushala and Perry, Heaven’s Door came to live.
The brand got its name from Dylan’s famous song ‘Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door’. To twist things, they decided to focus on Dylan’s work of art, namely his iron sculpture gates, instead of his music. The bottles and label designs are inspired by Dylan’s iron sculptures.
Heaven’s Door currently offers an array of three whiskeys, namely The Tennessee Bourbon, Straight Rye Whiskey and the London Spirits gold winner, the Double Barrel Whiskey.
