London has a rich gin history. During the Gin Craze in the 18th century, there was a gin distillery or gin shop in every street in the city that benefited from the spices and citrus fruits coming into the port of London. After the Gin Craze had ended, very few gin distilleries survived, and for nearly 200 years there wasn’t a single gin distillery in the city until The City of London Distillery was born.

The City of London Distillery opened on 20th December 2012 inside Jonathan Clark’s cocktail bar in Bride Lane, within London. Their first gin, loyal to their roots, was a classic London Dry Gin – followed soon after by their celebration of the City of London – Square Mile gin. Since then they have added a very popular Sloe gin along with Old Tom and Christopher Wren to the range.

London Dry Gin

The City of London is a connoisseur’s London Dry Gin, flavoured with a fine balance of juniper berries, angelica, liquorice and coriander seeds – with fresh orange, lemon and pink grapefruit added also to give the gin its distinctive zesty notes. Winner of a Double-Gold Award at the San Francisco Spirits Competition 2017.

Christopher Wren

Christopher Wren is a premium gin which combines the subtle flavours of juniper, coriander, angelica root, liquorice and sweet orange to give a complex mix that balances quality and flavour. Winner of a Double-Gold Award at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2016 and a Gold Award in the International Spirit Competition 2017.

Old Tom Gin

Old Tom Gin is an authentic Old Tom; it’s lightly sweetened and combines a hint of warm spice flavour with lingering zesty citrus notes. Winner of a Double Gold Award in the San Francisco Spirits Competition 2017.

Sloe Gin

Sloe Gin is rich in colour & taste, made with London dry gin steeped for several months with blackthorn berries. Winner of a Silver-Outstanding Award at the International Wines and Spirits Competition 2015.

Square Mile Gin

Square Mile Gin is a one-shot London dry gin flavoured with juniper berries, coriander seeds, orris root, angelica, liquorice, fresh orange & lemon and a few other botanicals. Winner of a Double Gold Award at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017 and also a Gold Medal at London Spirits Competition 2018.

In 2017, City of London Distillery entered into a joint-venture with Halewood International Ltd. and are working with them to extend the distribution of their gins into bars, pubs, restaurants, hotels and, most importantly, retail outlets across the UK and beyond.
