Bandero Tequila: A Taste of Tradition and Excellence

Hand-harvested from the highlands of Los Altos, Jalisco, and crafted with tradition and sustainability at its core, Bandero Tequila continues to elevate the tequila experience

With the surge in demand for authentic tequila, the beverage has been celebrated for its vibrant flavours and storied heritage. But few brands capture its true essence quite like Bandero Tequila. Recently recognised at the prestigious London Spirits Competition, Bandero Café and Bandero Blanco made their mark among the world's finest spirits, reflecting a commitment to craftsmanship, authenticity, and sustainable production.

Bandero Café earned an impressive 91 points, securing a Silver Medal, while Bandero Blanco followed closely with 88 points, earning a Bronze Medal. These accolades are not just testaments to their quality but also to the brand's dedication to elevating the tequila experience with each sip.

Hand-Harvested Perfection from Jalisco

Bandero prides itself on its philosophy of unwavering commitment to quality and tradition. "We hand harvest our 100% Blue Weber Agave exclusively from the highlands of Los Altos, Jalisco—a region renowned for producing naturally sweet, fruity agave," shares Johanna DeJoria, Vice President at Bandero. This region’s rich soil and elevated climate contribute to the agave's unique flavor profile, setting the stage for a truly exceptional spirit.

The journey from agave field to bottle is one of patience and precision. Bandero’s small-batch production follows an ancient recipe, slow-roasting the agave in traditional clay ovens for three days before re-distilling only the heart—the smoothest part of the tequila juice. The result is an additive-free, CRT-certified, and zero-waste tequila that embodies authenticity in every pour.

Tradition Meets Innovation

While Bandero’s methods are rooted in time-honored tradition, the brand is not shy about innovation. Their Bandero Café, which won Silver at the London Spirits Competition, is a bold infusion of Mexican coffee concentrate blended with their signature Blanco. The result is a smooth, richly layered spirit with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and warm spice—a testament to Bandero’s ability to craft inventive expressions that honor tradition while pushing boundaries.

On the other hand, Bandero Blanco—recognized with a Bronze Medal—is a pure and elegant representation of unaged tequila. Its flavor profile showcases the essence of highland agave, with hints of cooked agave, peppercorn, and toasted honey. Crafted without additives, its clean and authentic taste speaks to the meticulous care taken at every stage of its production.

A Commitment to Quality and Sustainability

For Bandero, quality goes beyond taste; it’s embedded in their sustainable production methods. “We partner closely with our distillery team to maintain strict quality control at every stage—from harvest to bottling,” explains Johanna. Their commitment to non-diffuser traditional methods, natural yeast fermentation, and careful filtration ensures consistency and clarity in every bottle.

Bandero's zero-waste approach is another pillar of their production philosophy. By maximizing the use of agave and minimizing waste, the brand not only upholds its environmental responsibilities but also preserves the purity of its product—a value that resonates with modern consumers who appreciate both quality and sustainability.

Looking to the Future: Expanding the Legacy

Following their success at the London Spirits Competition, Bandero Tequila is setting its sights on growth. Plans are underway to introduce Reposado and Añejo expressions, expanding their portfolio while remaining true to their roots. "These innovations are designed to expand our footprint while staying true to our brand values of heritage and flavor integrity," Johanna notes.

Such growth is a reflection of Bandero's ambition to not only craft exceptional spirits but to also redefine the standards for premium tequila worldwide. Their presence at major spirits competitions and collaborations with iconic venues like The Savoy and The Shard further solidify Bandero’s reputation as a leader in the industry.

Elevating the Tequila Experience

As Bandero continues its journey, one thing remains clear: it is redefining what it means to sip tequila. From its hand-harvested Blue Weber Agave to its additive-free production and sustainable practices, Bandero represents a return to authenticity in a world of mass production.

For discerning drinkers and industry experts alike, Bandero Tequila is more than just a spirit—it is a celebration of craftsmanship, heritage, and the enduring allure of true Mexican tequila. With its recent accolades at the London Spirits Competition, Bandero is proving that excellence is more than a claim; it’s a commitment, poured into every bottle.
