Meet the Judges: Matteo Aristei, Assistant Bar Manager at Coq d’Argent

Matteo Aristei brings passion and precision to London’s cocktail scene as Assistant Bar Manager at Coq d’Argent.

Currently serving as Assistant Bar Manager at the iconic Coq d’Argent in London, Matteo Aristei combines creativity with a refined understanding of spirits to craft memorable drinking experiences. His background includes years of hands-on bar experience, where mentors like Jerome O. inspired him to pursue excellence in cocktail making and service.

Matteo’s approach to judging at the London Spirits Competition reflects his dual appreciation for craftsmanship and consumer appeal. For him, a great spirit is more than just technically sound — it must connect with people through story, taste, and presentation.

Who or what inspired your journey into spirits?

I was inspired by Jerome O, one of the Bar Managers at the start of my career. His dedication and creativity motivated me to pursue my journey in spirits.

Amari are pretty underrated and deserve more attention for their complexity and versatility.

I’m pretty excited about low- and no-alcohol drinks and their growing acceptance among guests.
