Whiskey from USA Won at the 2019 London Spirits Competition

Remembering the winners of the 2019 London Spirits Competition, the 3rd Edition is set to return even bigger in 2020!

Bob Dylan’s Heaven’s Door Double Barrel Whiskey, an ode to his song “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” won the gold while scoring a whopping 96 points on the score chart!

Bob Dylan is a world-renowned American singer-songwriter and author who has created some of the biggest hits in the American music industry. His best works include “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “The Times They Are a-Changing’”.

Heaven’s Door Double Barrel became extremely popular to have won in the London Spirits Competition 2019. Know more here.

South African gin Deep South Cape Dry scored a 93 while the UK gin OX44 came in 3rd scoring 92 points.

Heaven’s Door secured the titles “Spirit of the Year”, “Whiskey of the Year”, “Best Spirits by Quality”, “Best Spirits by Value” and “Best in Show by Country (USA)” along with a Gold Medal and completely dominated the London Spirits Competition.

The stage for the 2020 Edition of the London Spirits Competition is set and it is bigger than ever! Higher stakes! A bigger competition! More valuable participation! A better challenge!

2019 London Spirits Competition brought a participation number that was absolutely unprecedented! This called for Sid Patel, CEO, Beverage Trade Network (venture organizer of London Spirits Competition) to up the ante of the spirits competition. Hence the 2020 Edition of LSC is made to be even more difficult and the stakes are set even higher!

The judging process will remain to be focused on three criteria:

Quality (Scored out of 50)

+

Value (Scored out of 25)

+

Packaging (scored out of 25)

London Spirits Competition Score

With every preceding year of having such a holistic approach of scoring by the top on-trade buyers of the industry, London Spirits Competition has made it evident that it gives equal importance to Packaging as much as it does to Value. Good packaging can become a game-changer for spirits making it stand out in the aisle, as in the isle a person looking for spirits is not able to taste it before he/she selects the spirits of choice.

What’s changed with the London Spirits Competition?

Everything has changed except the “Judging Process”!

Judges are Top Buyers of the on-trade wine industry!

New judge additions are going to make the competition even more difficult than last year since the same spirits will now be judged by more judges than earlier! This also means that there will be the number of top buyers of the USA judging your spirits, which would more exposure of your wine amongst top buyers of the industry.

A spirits maker is generally looking for:

  1. Individual Exposure of the spirits amongst top buyers

  2. Spirits tasted by top buyers of the spirits industry

  3. Receive truly honest tasting feedback.

A new marketing tool provided by the London Spirits Competition

Starting this year the London Spirits Competition is bringing tasting feedback for all participants. Receive tasting feedback which is a calibrated tasting note discussed amongst the top buyers on the tasting table. London Spirits Competitions will allow participants to use the tasting feedback for their marketing and point of sale materials with LSC logo without any additional fee.
